AI will allow attackers to improve their attacks, and defenders to improve their defense. Over time, little will change — but the battle will be more intense.
Meanwhile, as Ilia Kolochenko, chief architect at ImmuniWeb, comments, “Despite many sensational reports produced earlier this year projecting a looming surge of cybercrime due to the novel capabilities of generative AI, we will unlikely see a tectonic change there next year or even in 2025. Modern cybercrime is a mature, highly profitable, and well-organized industry. Therefore, AI disruption will have little impact on it.” The attackers simply don’t need AI to carry on being successful.
